Day 11 & I wonder if I'm Eating Enuf

Monday:
  • 90 Minutes of freakin hot yoga.

I looked like a red faced mime with mascara running down my cheeks about half way through the class. You aren’t supposed to wipe your face/body down during the sessions because sweat is your body’s natural way of cooling you down so you are just supposed to suffer through it, but when I saw those black streaks running down, I had to do something about it. It’s the only makeup I wear and I either have to go waterproof or remove it before these classes J It was very funny looking….

  • Food was excellent – Still a bit low at around 1250 calories

  • No Alcohol (Sunday too, forgot to put that in there).

I am very tired today. It was so hard to get up and get on the treadmill this morning. Between 4 and 4:30 I struggled to get my eyes open. But I did, and go dressed, downstairs and walking by 4:40. Yesterday, for curiosity sake, I wore my HR monitor during my Yoga Session (not a comfortable thing to wear during the pose where I’m lying on my stomach and flying like a plane J… it hurt my chest).  Based on my HR and my current WT, I burned 1150 calories. Basically I burned in 90 minutes what I ate in a day. I’m wondering if that is why I am so tired today? I don’t think I could eat more during the day before the class as you really can start flushing the toxins out of your body through the poses and sometimes you can feel sick (I haven’t since the first day). So I’m not sure how to work this out for myself. I drink a ton of water and yesterday I added more minerals throughout the day as I know I probably sweat them all out during Yoga. Especially yesterday, it was hotter than normal. Weird thing is, I didn’t feel so hot after awhile but I sure was sweating a lot. Each time I go, the poses are a little bit easier, I get into them more is really what I mean. Not easier in the physical aspect, but easier in the fact that I can actually get into the pose.  Some are still just not possible for me due to a whole bunch of reasons. If anything, I will certainly have a strong back and legs.

This week should go pretty much like last week. I’m very very busy at work (yeah) and we don’t have any outings planned for the evenings this week (so far). But if we do go play some golf at the bar, I’m not drinking. It seems to be the best thing for me right now.

And I get my next bunch of organic veggies and other stuff from my delivery place on Thursday. We bought a new fridge last week because mine isn’t working well, and I really needed more space. If I’m going to keep on juicing and buying all these veggies, I need a place to keep them. This time I bought some organic soups, and some coconut water. The coconut water is really good after yoga – kind of brings the electrolytes back up. Doesn’t taste all that bad either.

I hope everyone has a fantastic day, and I really hope to catch up with your blogs and what’s going on in your life soon.

  1. Too funny, my husband and I were just talking about hot yoga, about how much I hated it! I went twice and it almost killed me. I've never been so nauseous in my life! Both times.

Tonight is my first Kundalini yoga class. I'm looking forward to it. I like the poses, I just couldn't take the heat.

Funny too...I've got my heart rate monitor packed with my clothes for tonight. I want to see if I'll actually burn any calories. I'm sure it won't be anything like hot yoga since I understand this is more like a lot of chanting (?).

  2. It sounds like you DO need more calories. You don't want to deprive your body of the calories it needs to function properly. You should check with the biggest loser club online or do a google search to find out how many you should be eating.

I never thought that could actually be a problem for me, but when I found out I wasn't eating enough to support my active lifestyle and then changed, I actually lost weight!

Best of luck to you... sounds like you're keeping SUPER active... GO YOU!!! :-)

  3. Keep up the great work! You do need to eat more than 1200 calories, though, if you are exercising like that. Have a snack or two that don't have many calories...just to get the nutrients. Sometimes being nutrient deficient can cause the tiredness I have found.

  4. I agree you need to eat more calories, especially when you burn that many calories in one day. You often mention that you haven't eaten enough, so try adding in a few small snacks to help boost your energy and your caloric intake.

  5. I would up my calories if I were you.
You have to have some left to operate on.
    Stay healthy Sandra...
    Good burn though.
    I might look into it.
