Dragons & Snowshowers...

Good morning everyone. I hope each and every one of you had a FANTASTIC weekend!

I didn’t end up walking the dog on Saturday, I just didn’t feel like it. It was cool and windy outside and I just ached from the waist down. The thought of going out there and braving the cooler weather, well I just made the choice not to. So I had an “OFF” day. I needed it I think.

I mentioned as well that we were going to see “How to Train a Dragon”. We went to the 3D one at 4:00 and if you can imagine this, I cried. A freakin cartoon people… albeit a really good 3D cartoon… but still it was a carton, and I cried. However I was not alone J It was a very good movie, I highly recommend everyone go see it – it has an excellent storyline. Even if you don’t have children  - GO!

On Sunday, I did my normal kick my own butt routine. However, I did NOT want to do it. I did not feel like exercising, I felt drained and out of sorts. But I got on the treadmill and ran my C25KW2D3 program. By the end of it, I felt GREAT! Pays to just go “get er done” sometimes. So then I did a weird routine. I worked on my core, legs, and upper body with 1 minute fast running intervals in between the sets.  Right now during my C25K sessions, I run at 4.5-4.6 (which is an improvement over last year). During yesterday’s intervals, I ran 5.5 – 6.0 mph – which is freakin fast for these short legs. But I also did them only for one minute. Got that HR right up there. Then immediately worked on one of the three areas. I did this for about another 45 minutes. I finished off my workout with another 15 minutes on the treadmill just to cool down and walk it out. Oh and I did a LOT of stretching in there too. I even hula hooped. I have one of those weighted ones, and swung the hips for 4-5 minutes at a time. My cat hates this thing and runs for his life anytime he sees it. The very first time I got it, I guess I didn’t snap it together right and it flew apart. I suspect one of the pieced hit the cat as he has never been within 10 feet of the thing since. When I take it out, he runs!!!
Poor thing.

So after the workout, I finished my laundry & finished cleaning some of the house (I know … boring). We then decided to go out for a couple of hours. The Young Man went home with his Mom and Mr. Sandra wanted to have an adult afternoon so off we went. I kicked butt again in Golden Tee! Since I had started the crock pot early in the morning and was cooking ham and split pea soup, I also started the bread maker before we left and we had a lovely multi-grain loaf of bread to eat with our soup. All we had to do was dish and eat when we got home. It was a lovely way to end the weekend.

TMI coming – Uncle Tom definitely has arrived and he is uglier than ever. Must be because he was in hiatus for 2 months and now it’s revenge time. I hurt from the waist down and it doesn’t seem to be letting up much. This is not a great feeling and is part of why I just don’t “feel” like exercising. I ache…. However, I am not letting is stop me from anything.... head down, butt up - heading in the right direction.

And it’s snowing outside… whatever happened to spring?

I hope everyone has a wonderful day !

  1. Not snow!!! Aaarrggghhhh!!!

Thanks for the movie review. I've been wanting to see that so now I know to take tissues.

Glad to hear you took the day off. I once read that even elite athletes take 1 full day per week off from any organized exercise. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us!

  2. It's SNOWING?? That's crazy!

We thought about seeing How to Train Your Dragon this weekend; it was either that or Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which was funny. I do want to see the dragon movie. I like kids' movies! LOL

  3. Great job on your C25K work as well as the speed intervals. Now that I have my Garmin and heart rate monitor, I've been looking for speed programs to try out.

  4. I was jealous because I want to see How to Train Your Dragon but have not had the chance yet. Then I got to the line about snow...awww, I'm so sorry. Spring is late and Uncle Tom is making up for skipping a month - many hugs to you!

Great job on all your work!!
