I'm on Track

This is my 200th Post - chatty Sassy...

*found this on Dr. Mercola's website

I finally made it to Bikram Hot Yoga last night and man did I need it. I was not able to complete all the poses as I became quite light headed but I’m OK with that. It just means, and I was already aware of this, that my body is going through something and it struggled during some of the poses. Combined with a little dehydration, and other low minerals, I became more light headed than normal. But Oh what a stress reliever. I felt so good afterwards and decided that I must, some way or another, make sure I go at least twice a week. For so long, I was going 3x a week and then in March, it became a challenge to even go once a week. The last session I attended was March 24th. That’s 3 weeks ago… way too long.  So even if I go to the 8:00 p.m. class, I am going to find the time to fit in 2 sessions a week. It just hasn’t been in my favor lately. I've been focussing on other things instead (ST, Jogging, Walking).

Today, I got up and did the C25K W3D1 on my treadmill. Since our weather has turned kind of yucky, my friend and I decided that we wouldn’t meet to run outside. We are both fair weather runners I guess (or wimps… J). So I got the lazy butt up at 4 and ran at home. It feels good to keep on doing it, and my hip has not been in any pain (outside of the normal stiffness), and I contribute that to all the stretching I have been doing.

Last Friday, I did pickup my new orthotics and they are taking some getting used to. I notice my left foot feels like it is falling asleep at first, but eventually I don’t notice it at all. And the bottom of the pad is thicker than I am used to so my heel is further up in my shoe. The back of my foot rubs a bit and I will have to watch that because when it comes to walking 20 miles a day in September, the last thing I want is blisters. Hopefully I’ll have it worked out. I go back in 6 weeks to talk about how they are working out and if I still feel they rub too much (and maybe before the 6 weeks), I will get them changed. After all, you spend a great deal of money on them so they should be the right fit.

I tried yesterday to eat only 3 meals during the day but it is so easy to just fall back into your normal eating schedule. Sharon had recommended that I give this “seed cereal” a try and so I bought a mix of raw seeds, soaked them overnight, then had them for breakfast on Sunday. Yes, they filled me up for quite some time but for some reason, the thought of eating that for breakfast yesterday morning made me feel ill. I know it’s in my head and likely not real, but I just can’t seem to stomach eating it again. So yesterday, I had a shake like I normally do, then at 10, I wanted my apple, then had my normal sized lunch, and my other apple & HB egg at 2:30 before Yoga. It’s how I like to eat, and I’m not sure I want to go to the 3 meals only.

This afternoon I go meet up with my personal trainer for some strength training sessions and another cardio session on the Arc Trainer. I like that machine because I can set the incline high and really get some good full range motion for my hips. It seems to really open them up.  They have these two moving step machines that I really want to try some day but I think a separate club session will be in order for that machine. It looks tough.

Well I hope you all have a FANTASTIC day, and make good choices.

p.s., my pedometer reading for yesterday is 0 – not that I didn’t take any steps yesterday but I must have hit the reset button on my fancy dancy pedometer when I was changing clothes and at the end of the day it registered 300 steps. I KNOW I walked a LOT more than that. So I’m registering a big fat ZERO and will average 6 days for the week instead of 7. Figures my first day of the pedometer challenge I messed up J

  1. If you've found a way of eating that works for you don't mess with it! You made me laugh about the pedometer reset - I've done that sort of thing soooo many times. It's annoying, huh?

  3. Pedometers are the bane of my existence. I've tried several times, but never found one that worked properly. I hope you have better luck with yours!

  5. Whenever I had shoes that would rub me on my heel, my father would pound the back of the shoe with his hammer. Not a sophisticated fix, but it always worked!
