It is time for my first update for the My Long Hot Active Summer Challenge sponsored by the Lovely Exquisite Christine. I was on vacation during most of the first week and so I did not expect a loss for this week but rather a gain. I knew this going in to it and still made the choices I did when on vacation – you gotta admit, you only get to do the “all-inclusive” once a year and I included it all :)
I did not get in as much exercise as I wanted but I still did it. I walked almost every day along the beach for an hour (that soft sand is a killer workout on the legs) and two days we golfed – approximately 4 hours each day and I tried to walk as much of the course as I could. There was even some sporadic jogging thrown in there to catch up with the rest of my crew in the carts. I did try to work out in the gym one day but there were a lot of others in there and it was very hot. They have no air conditioning in that gym. The Mexicans might be used to it, but I am not. Anyway here it is:
My weight today is: 186.7
I lost/gained (Start 181.9): +4.8
Minutes exercising this week (May 5-11th): ~420 minutes (which consisted mostly of walking time in the morning. I did not include all the golfing/walking time I did and only logged 2 hours of walking for both those days.
Pedometer Challenge:
I missed logging this on my blog for the two Mondays I was away. Dawn, if I am out of the challenge – that is fine – I completely understand. I am however, going to still log my steps. I find it very inspiring to try to get over 10,000 steps each day.
Week ending:
May 2 8037 steps
May 9 10125 steps
I have to admit it is good to be back and into a routine again. I got up this morning and did my C25KW6D1 program. With the hard bed at the hotel, beach walk in barefeet, and extremely uncomfortable airline seats, my hip/back were extremely sore and tight yesterday. I did not run, only walked as it hurt and I didn’t want to inflame anything. Anyway, I felt good enough this morning to get back at it.
I hope all of you have a FANTASTIC day.

Welcome back! I'm glad you had a good time. And that vacation bump will be gone in no time.
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me just say here that the photos from your vacay are gorgeous. (I've been trying to tell you that for hours but Blogger wouldn't let me!)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, you went, you saw, you included, you conquered. Glad you're back and raring to go. I missed your posts.
Glad you did what everyone should on an all-inclusive vacation...include everything! It's not like you do this all the time, and life is too short not to be included in the all-inclusive!
ReplyDeleteThat 4 lbs will drop right off!
The vacation sounds so nice. I'm just a little jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteGood job on getting back to the routine. You'll drop that little gain and more.
Hang in there - it's just a hiccup and more than likely mostly water that will melt off next week.
ReplyDeleteGreat job being active during vacation!!
I have to let you all know that I am not worried about the 4.8lbs - compared to this time last year (and the 3 previous years I have been tracking), that is HALF of what I gained while vacationing in Mazatlan. Chances are it is water (I bloat in heat), and part of it due to the heavier meal I ate last night. So really, I didn't gain that much... I'm happy about that. Keeping active was the key.
ReplyDeleteI know it is going to be gone by the next weigh-in next week.
You were right to enjoy your vacation--now you can hit it hard!
ReplyDeleteHey, you're right, 4.8 isn't too much. You'll sweat it off in no time! Can't wait to see what you've accomplished by next week!
ReplyDeleteKeep going, your goal weight is achievable...
ReplyDeleteWay to go with all the exercise! I wouldn't worry about the gain. Temporary vacation thing. I bet it melts off by next week. Sodium will do that to you. :)
ReplyDeletegreat job getting the exercise in even if you didn't want to.
ReplyDeleteTrue - it isn't always what we want....
ReplyDeleteBut it's almost always what we need....
to get a little bit closer to our long-term goals.
Balance and listening....and doing it anyways.
Great job on exercising while on vacation. I love walking on the beach.
ReplyDeleteThe Fit & Frugal Challenge
I love a good vacation and yours sounds like it was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on keeping your weight in check while on vacation. That is not a bad gain at all and like you said you had a big dinner last night and could be bloated.
ReplyDeleteI bet next week you have a huge loss.
Sounds like a great vacation glad you were able to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI once did an outdoor camping trip. I drank so much water, and walked so much, I was expecting a big loss.
ReplyDeleteWhen I weighed myself after the trip, it was Exactly the same. However, three days later about 7 pounds dropped off. :)
Wow! That's a lot of steps! Good job! And how awesome that you still got some walking in on vacation. That makes me feel like I can do that, too! Thanks for helping with motivation. It sure is fun to see what others are doing and how they are overcoming the struggles such as vacation. Sounds like I just have to GET UP AND AT IT! :) Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteYour vacation sounds like it was great but I agree about it being great to get back to a routine. You'll drop those pounds in no time!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun vacation. I think it is great you are getting back on track after a weeks vacation. Way to go.
