Long Day

Today was a long, slow day. Fortunately I got up and exercised this morning because I spent the rest of the day at the hospital with Mr. Sandra while he had day surgery. We waited, and waited, and then waited some more. Why you have to be there two hours before the scheduled surgery, just to sit there and do nothing, well it’s beyond me.  Then when we finally got up to the OP floor and talked to the Dr. and Nurse, they told me he would be out by 1:30 and back down to the recovery room by 2:00. So rather than go to work which is about 20 minutes away, I thought I’d stick around, relax and read my book.

Then at 2 I bought him a sandwich and headed up to the recovery floor. Then I paced for 1.5 hours waiting for them to bring him down. They were supposed to phone me when he was done but they didn’t and so I actually was starting to get worried. There really wasn't anything to get worried about because it was surgery on his hand, but still, they said they would call.  He came back all bright eyed and wanting to get out of there as well but they kept him for another 1.5 hours to go through their checks.

I got in over 10,000 steps today that’s for sure.

The book I am reading is called “Enlightened Eating”. It’s another clean, raw, whole foods kind of book and on one of the pages it had a quote from “The Essene Gospel of Peace”. Personally have never heard of EGP before but I liked the quote.

“Breathe long and deep at all your meals,

that the angel of air may bless your repasts.

And chew well your food with your teeth,

that it become water,

and that the angel of water turn it into blood in your body.

And eat slowly, as it were a prayer you make to the Lord.

… And enter only into the Lord’s sanctuary

when you feel in yourselves the call of his angels,

for all that you eat in sorrow, or in anger, or without desire,

becomes poison in your body…

And never sit at the table of God

before he calls you by the angel of appetite.”

It is so true…………

I hope you all had a FANTASTIC day.

  1. Glad all is well...it is too bad that some medical professionals are completely ignorant when it comes to the feelings and anxieties of the waiting loved ones.

  8. Wow, what a beautiful quote. I think I need to print that as it would be a gorgeous prayer before a meal.

Long days at the hospital suck, no doubt about it. Hope your Mr. is doing better today!
