On Saturday we went fishing and it was a great fishing hole we found. Lots and lots of big trout. I had a hard time bringing them in because I was having a hard time standing in the water. The hole was along the far bank and in the picture you see Mr. Sandra standing in it. Well he is quite a bit heavier, and taller than me so when I was standing in there, it was about hip height. And in the fast current. So I struggled with getting to that spot, never mind standing in it. I tell ya, that is a workout – walk in a river against the current. Each time I lifted my foot to move it along the bottom, the current would try to push it downstream. You had to really use your legs to keep your feet on the ground. I have to admit, I don’t like wading that much. Then that evening we all went out for my favorite food – Sushi. Mr. Sandra’s son is a Sushi Chef and so when we go to visit, we all go out for dinner and he orders all the good stuff. It’s expensive but well worth it. We were with Mr. Sandra’s 1st wife and her BF and it was OK. I didn’t have to spend my birthday night celebrating with her so I’m good.
Sunday we woke up to rain and had to go to the Derby. I did end up buying a new pair of Asics for the Kidney March and I have been wearing them ever since Friday. However, there was NO way I was wearing them on Sunday. I brought my sandals along but I would have froze to death. Thankfully there was a sports store close by and I bought some duck boots.
But wow was it fun! I’m sure that the mud added a whole lot of excitement and challenge for the drivers. The audience along the sides frequently got mud splattered all over them. I was lucky that I was in the right place at the right time and missed all the mud flinging. Even though I was right there along the fence with a great view, I just didn’t get hit.
I walked every single day for 30 or more minutes so I am keeping to my “365 Days to 50” challenge. I’m on day 5 and so far so good. And now that the weekend is over, the food is back on track once again.
I’m nervous about starting my walk on Friday.
I hope you all have a fantastic week!
